OPERATOR'S
FIELD MANUAL

ONO Tape Deck is a private digital cassette system. You create an account, receive a temporary loaner tape, record or upload audio in the Workshop, seal the tape, play it from the Vault, and move permanent assets through controlled transfer links.

ACCOUNT

STARTING AS AN OPERATOR

Create an account with email verification or a supported sign-in method. After your account is active, ONO assigns an operator profile and grants one [ LOANER TAPE ] when available. The loaner lets new users try the full recording flow before owning a permanent tape.

01
Register or sign in. If email verification is required, enter the verification code before entering the Vault.
02
Open [ VAULT ]. Your tapes are split into [ COLLECTION ] and [ INVENTORY ].
03
Use the top-right operator avatar menu to open Profile, Purchase History, Activity Log, Manual, Admin Panel if eligible, or Logout.

VAULT

WHERE TAPES LIVE

The Vault is your main inventory screen. [ COLLECTION ] contains opened, draft, sealed, archived, and playable tapes. [ INVENTORY ] contains unopened packs that still need to be opened before use.

01
Click an unopened pack to open it. Once opened, it becomes a tape that can enter the Workshop.
02
Click an existing tape to inspect it. The tape page shows status, owner, track history, play controls, transfer controls, and loaner information when relevant.
03
Use [ MINT NEW ASSETS ] or the shop path to acquire permanent tapes when available.

WORKSHOP

RECORD OR UPLOAD AUDIO

The Workshop is where blank or draft tapes become recordings. You can upload audio files, including MP3 files, or use the built-in recorder to capture a new signal from your microphone. Tracks are assigned to Side A or Side B and must fit within the tape capacity.

01
Enter [ WORKSHOP ] and select a blank or draft tape.
02
Use [ SIGNAL INTAKE (MULTI) ] to upload one or more audio files. The system validates audio files and uploads them to the tape.
03
Use the recorder terminal to record directly in the browser, stop the recording, then press [ SAVE TO TAPE ].
04
Move tracks between Side A and Side B when needed. Watch the side capacity meter so you do not overload the tape.

SEALING

LOCKING A RECORDING

Sealing turns a draft recording into a finished tape. After sealing, the tape becomes playable in the Player. If you are sealing a loaner tape, ONO starts a 30-day expiry clock. Use that window to dub the loaner contents into a permanent tape if you want to keep them.

CHECK YOUR TRACK ORDER AND TAPE TITLE BEFORE SEALING. SEALED TAPES ARE TREATED AS FINISHED ASSETS.

01
Review Side A and Side B. Confirm the tape title and optional J-card text.
02
If the tape has little content or an empty J-card, ONO may show a pre-seal advisory before allowing you to continue.
03
Press the seal action. The tape state becomes [ SEALED ], and playback becomes available.

PLAYER

LISTENING TO SEALED TAPES

The Player is the listening surface for sealed tapes. Open a tape from the Vault or tape inspector and choose the player action. Loaner tapes can be played while they are valid. Expired loaners may be archived and blocked from playback.

01
Open a sealed tape and press [ PLAY ] or enter the Player route from the navigation.
02
Use transport controls for play, pause, rewind, fast-forward, stop, volume, and side navigation when available.
03
Use Settings if you want to adjust tape hiss, hiss intensity, or sound effect volume.

LOANER

TEMPORARY TAPE RULES

A loaner tape is temporary. It is meant to help new operators test the system. Loaner tapes are non-transferable. After a loaner is sealed, it receives a 30-day expiry window. To preserve the recording, dub it into a permanent blank or draft tape.

01
Record or upload into the loaner exactly like a normal draft tape.
02
Seal the loaner when the content is ready. The expiry countdown starts after sealing.
03
Open the loaner tape page and choose the dub action to copy the recording into a permanent tape.

DUBBING

LOANER TO PERMANENT

Dubbing copies the signal from a sealed or archived loaner into a permanent blank or draft tape that you own. This is the recommended path for keeping a loaner recording. The loaner remains protected until you complete the final seal flow in the Workshop.

01
Make sure you own a permanent tape in [ BLANK ] or [ DRAFT ] status.
02
From the loaner tape inspector, start the dub flow and select the permanent target tape.
03
ONO prepares a Workshop session for the target tape. Review the copied tracks, edit the title or J-card if needed, then seal.

TRANSFER

MOVING PERMANENT ASSETS

Permanent tapes can be transferred by generating a claim link. Loaner tapes cannot be transferred. Only eligible tape states can generate a transfer token, and the asset may be temporarily locked while the transfer token is active.

01
Open a permanent sealed or unopened tape and choose [ TRANSFER ASSET ].
02
Confirm the warning. ONO generates a transfer URL that can be copied and sent to the recipient.
03
The recipient opens the claim link, signs in if needed, and claims the tape. Ownership changes only after the claim succeeds.
04
Transfer links are time-limited and single-use. During an active transfer, playback or other actions may be locked until the token is consumed or expires.

PROFILE

OPERATOR SETTINGS

The Profile page stores your operator name, avatar, account timestamps, activity tools, rewrite credits, and security actions. Your avatar is shared between the top navigation and profile page, so changing it updates both.

01
Open the avatar menu and choose [ VIEW PROFILE ].
02
Press [ EDIT DATA ] to change your username or upload a new avatar.
03
Use the security section to request a password reset. Use the report tool if you need to submit a bug.
{Screenshot needed:(description:Show the Profile page with avatar, Edit Data button, rewrite credits, and security credentials.)}
[ 10 ]

REWRITE

DEMAGNETIZATION

Rewrite credits are used for destructive reset operations on eligible sealed assets. A rewrite clears the recording and returns the physical shell to a reusable state when the system allows it.

REWRITE AND DEMAGNETIZATION ACTIONS ERASE RECORDED DATA. DO NOT USE THIS FLOW UNLESS YOU INTEND TO CLEAR THE TAPE.

01
Confirm that the tape is eligible and that you have at least one rewrite credit.
02
Start the rewrite or demagnetization action from the tape inspector when available.
03
ONO logs the rewrite event in the tape history after the reset completes.
